The staff of Okeechobee Shooting Sports always enjoys spending time with our military veterans when they visit the range. We regularly see vets from Iraq, Afghanistan, Viet Nam, Korea and other exotic places around the world. Last week we were especially fortunate when World War II veteran Ed Storck visited with us as his son Terry and his granddaughter participated in International Defensive Pistol Association
(IDPA) and GSSF Style competitions. During World War II, Ed served his country in Iwo Jima as a member of the United States Marine Corps. After the pistol competitions, Ed had an opportunity to get a little target practice in Bay 3. While it’s been over sixty years since Ed practiced with a pistol, when he put a Glock 17 in his hand he hit the target with every round, just as we expected.
Ed has escaped the Illinois winter to spend time with his new great grandson and the rest of the family in Lake Worth. We’re looking forward to his return to the range for a little more target practice. The staff of Okeechobee Shooting Sports thanks Ed, and all of our veterans, for their service to our country.
